Flood the Throne
Flood the Throne
When my children were younger there used to be a great commercial that played during this time of year. The background music was, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and a joyous mom was pushing a shopping cart around Staples throwing in school supplies. Summer was over and the children that we love dearly...were heading back to school! My wife, especially, seemed to love that commercial. While she loved her children dearly, she also found that spending 24/7 with them could be a bit taxing.
I would just like to remind all of us today to use part of our lunch breaks for the next few weeks to pray for all of our young people heading back to school. What a joy it would be to the Lord if we were to flood his throne with prayers for our children. He loves to hear from us and he loves to answer our requests. One of the greatest acts of love that we can bestow on each other is to pray for one another.
We should pray that our children love to learn. Pray that they grow in serving one another. Pray that they share their faith boldly. Pray for their protection physically, spiritually and emotionally. Pray that they have discerning hearts that stand for the truth. Pray that their joy may be full. Pray that they make life long friends that steer them toward Jesus. Pray that the Word that they have hidden in their hearts keeps them from sin. Pray that lunch times are full of laughter and kindness. Pray that the endeavors that they seek to push themselves in are used by God to mature them and build their character. Pray that they grow in the Fruit of the Spirit. Pray that they are loyal and full of integrity.
School times, whether in the home or in school buildings, are a huge part of our children’s maturity. While times may be different than when we were in school, our God is the same. He uses each experience to mold our child into the image of his Son. He uses our influences to help our children become men and women that glorify Him. He uses our prayers to unleash the Spirit of God into our children’s lives. Enlist help. Encourage your family members, your friends, and your church family to pray for your children. Give them specific things to pray for. Share with them when something special is happening in the life of your child. A big game. A school play. A bully. Surround your children with prayer and flood the throne with your child’s name.
